“Side Show” is a creepy adventure at a carnival side show. The twist on this is a kind of Hotel California story…you can come in but you can never leave! Alan’s drill includes a barker (perhaps with a large megaphone) to lure patrons in to witness the wonderful and bizarre sights of the side show.
Your art department (and parents) will have a field day creating backdrops that are reminiscent of carnival side shows from days gone by. Imagine oversized and faded props of “The Bearded Lady”, “World’s Strongest Man”, “The Two-headed Goat” and other oddities. Your costumes could also portray a side show that has seen better days. You could outfit each performer in a different costume or the battery as customers and the pit as side show performers. Be sure to have a talent scout check out your students to see if you have any hidden talents that can be utilized such as juggling, tumbling, or squeezing through hoops!
