“Optical Delusions” features numerous moments which highlight every section in your drum line. Optional dancers/guard may be used to enhance your theme. Alan Keown suggests that your props be painted black and white in a “Escher-esque style” (visit www.mcescher.com or other websites for inspiration), with the possible incorporation of the Fibonacci numbers (1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34…). You will need to fully research those ideas to make sure they work with your production. The walls written into the drill move during the show so you will need to make sure they have sturdy wheels and that you have enough extra performers to move them. A color guard (or dancers) has been written into the drill. They play an important part not only in the drill, but also in the musical line of the show. A “Sound Ripple” is creatively performed by having one person swing a flag, then 2, then 3 then 5 etc, to create a whooshing sound during the silence at the beginning of the show. An optional narration is also included. Is it real or is it an Optical Delusion? Only you can decide for sure.
